Nitriding, nitro Carburising and accelerated nitriding

Using our gas nitriding atmosphere furnaces.

To have successful nitriding heat treatment specific steels have to be used as not all carbon steels react to this process.

Nitriding creates a thin and hard surface by heating to between 500°c and 550°c in an ammonia gas atmosphere for maybe up to 96 hours.

As nitriding is a low temperature heat treatment and does not need a quench cycle to harden there is less likelihood of component distortion.

We at Huyton Heat Treatments have our own trademarked accelerated nitriding process which has the considerable advantage of shortening the process time by as much as 30%.

This has been developed by our own metallurgists and has proved to be incredibly successful in not only shortening the furnaces cycle time but the components do not suffer with the residual white layer that normally has to be removed

The majority of our very satisfied customers choose our accelerated process as there is no difference in the finished component quality when compared to our conventional nitriding process.
